The Art of Peace The art of peace begins with you. Work on yourself and your appointed task is the Art of Peace. Everyone has a spirit that can be refined, a body that can be trained in some manner, a suitable path to follow. You are here for no other purpose than to realize your inner divinity and manifest your innate enlightenment. Foster peace in your own life and then apply the Art to all that you encounter.
Morihei Uesheba - The art of Peach translated by John Stevens

Martial Arts Seminar and Spirit Combat Grading Saturday 14th October is the Day when we will be celebrating 32 years of Spiri...
It was always something that fascinated me and to be honest after these many years in Martial arts I do not yet have a complete understanding of the following:
ReplyDeleteThrough history in many occasions you find big martial arts masters like Morihei Uesheba and warriors such as the Shaolin monks and the Knights of Malta who talk about peace and non violence. It’s ironic that people practicing and dedicating their lives to study ways and means how to be more efficient in fighting, on the other hand be spiritual and look for peace. It’s like having a coin with two realities closely related to each other.
What do you think about this reality anyone has any suggestion? Please contribute to this discussion, looking forward to hear from you.
I believe that balance should play a good role in who we are. In every aspect of life, be it physical, social and mental, one has to find a balance to stay sane and healthy - Yin and Yang
DeleteMaybe an understanding on how to fight your enemy could help you understand how to keep peace, and vice versa.
To conclude with your analogy, you can never have a coin with only one face.
Anthea, thanks for your contribution. I guess you are totally right, you can't really appreciate food unless you have experienced hunger.
DeleteOne other aspect is that Martial arts will give you the possibility to express yourself on the math. By time you will realize that you do not need to prove anything. As my Sensei use to tell me - do not fight your ego, because you nourish it, you need to accept it!
